Redefining balance every day

Notes from a multi-passionate building something from the ground up.

Everyone glamorizes forging their own path, building the business, posting the content, but not enough people talk about the days (and sometimes weeks) when you’re exhausted and not seeing the things you’ve planted and nurtured yield anything.

Today I am tired. My boyfriend just left to go make good money for the day and I am here building, not knowing how much money will hit my bank account this month or the next. I wondered for a moment if I’m doing the right thing, if I’m on the right path, but then I thought of where I was a year ago today and remembered this is what I prayed for. I’d rather be working my ass off for myself and helping others than be tethered to an organization that sucks the life out of people.

I want to help others, empower them, help them write their stories through branding, through visuals, through creation. I want that and to pursue singing, teach pilates, and pursue what dreams get planted on my heart. I need the space to water and nurture them, but in turn give them the space to bloom and flourish. Sometimes I need to give things space and a beat unexpectedly, like singing recently, which really surprised me.

Being a multi-passionate, a multi-hyphenate means finding a new definition of balance and shifting focus on a daily basis. That means things will need to take a turn on the back burner, but that waiting isn’t tossing it out, it is time for marination and pruning to yield the best possible results.

I’m a big believer that you aren’t given more than you can handle and I need to remind myself of that. I’ve been preparing for a time like this for my entire life and it feels like the calm before the storm, or rather I’m in the storm, but waiting for the rain to stop and for there to be an awesome sunset right after, maybe a bonus rainbow or two.

Maybe that’s what faith is. Knowing the bloom is coming, even when all you can see is the soil.
